These speaking anxiety techniques DON'T work

But no one on the internet is talking about it...

You see Reader,

These 5 techniques are like BAND-AIDS to deeper issues...

They will NOT help you break free from public speaking anxiety in the long-term and yet many keep trying and relying on these temporary fixes.

What these techniques do is they react and do damage control once the anxiety is triggered...

But don't do SQUATS when it comes to ridding you of the bad anxiety from its root...

So, you have to keep relying on these crutches for the rest of your life.

Let's see how:

Deep breathing:
Breathing helps regulate your heart rate and adrenaline, calming you down temporarily.

But it doesn't address the underlying TRIGGERS, so you'll continue to feel the same fear until you confront the root cause.

So the next time it happens...

You will still feel the same emotions and butterflies in stomach because there is a trigger you are not addressing.

Positive affirmations:
Positive thinking is beneficial, but it often leaves underlying Limiting Beliefs UNADDRESSED.

Instead of just adding positive thoughts, focus on removing the root causes–negative belief systems.

Once you do that, there's nothing wrong with reminding yourself about the positives.

Thought stopping:
Thought-stopping interrupts negative thinking, replaces it with positive thoughts but doesn't address underlying beliefs causing those thoughts.

Without tackling these deeper issues, it's like MASKING a problem without solving it.

Medications (Beta blockers etc.):
Beta-blockers effectively block adrenaline & cortisol, providing temporary relief from anxiety.

But they DON'T address the root cause of why you experience overwhelming anxiety in the first place.

The question they never address is why those hormones got released in a particular proportion. And is it even normal for those hormones to be released when giving a presentation or talk?

Additionally, there are side effects of using Beta-blockers long-term.

Looking at someone for comfort:
This provides short-term relief, but what if that comforting person isn't there the next time?

It's better to address root causes of speaking anxiety so you don't rely on a CRUTCH.

Everything above does work, but only SHORT-TERM like a band-aid.
